Day 1
(16/9/2019)
Following the 9-10 hour flight from Tullamarine Airport, we
arrived at Narita Airport, Japan at approximately 8:40 am.
However, we were immediately introduced by the intense humidity of
Japan’s hot and wet climate. Despite the long bus trip that followed, we safely
arrived at the hotel.
Most of the day was characterised by our constant change of
train lines, where two
separate passes were required for our transport throughout Tokyo. It was an
interesting experience to learn about a smoother but foreign transport system,
to which hopefully, we would be able to adapt to its complexity.
Through one of the train lines, we reached the Asakusa district,
where it contained the famous markets that led way to the Sensoji Temple.
During that time, all of us purchased lunches at the nearest 7-Eleven. In
comparison to Australia’s, the Japanese varieties were found to offer a greater
range relative to food, drink and stationeries.
Soon later, we arrived at Shibuya via subway - the renowned and
crowded intersection. This was also accompanied by our visit to the statue of
Hachiko the dog. Whilst on our time at Shibuya, many of us were purchased items
at the 100 Yen store.
Having returned from Shibuya, the day concluded with a buffet
for dinner at the hotel.
